Introduction
After untimely decease of famous legendary Tabala player of Nepal , Atul Prasad Gautam, appreciating his philosophy, motive, idea and his talent as per the wish of Atul Gautam to dedicate himself for classical music and spiritualism with noble intension of making human life truthful, family members of artist Gautam, social activists, musicians and his disciples established Atul Memorial Society in 2005. Atul Gautam who had a strong belief that Music and Spiritualism can drive the society to path of welfare, had a single motive of establishing a Gurukul in Nepal to spread knowledge of classical music and spiritualism but is an irony, his wish could not be fulfilled during his occurrence in this earth. But Atul Memorial Society established in memory of artist Gautam kept enduring his desire through honors, awards, musical training, scholarship etc. Patron of the society and the wife of artist Gautam, Bandana Gautam (Sharma) and members of committee with all efforts to fulfill Atul's desire dedicated themselves to establish the Gurukul. In 2012 they were able to transform the Autul Memorial Society to Atul Memorial Gurukul completing all necessary legal procedure. The prime motive of this Gurukul is to give our children knowledge of Classical music, Spiritualism, Yoga culture along with modern education and make them civilised, well cultured and good citizen of Nepal. Atul Jayanti
Atul Jayanti is celebrated every year on the 8th of Magh in memory of the late Atul Prasad Gautam. This Significant occasion brings together renowned national and international artists; who are invited to showcase their exceptional talents through various performances. On this day, distinguished artists and social workers are honored with prestigious awards in recognition of their contributions to the various fields. In additions, the students of Gurukul actively participate by presenting vibrant and heartfelt performances, making the celebration even more meaningful and memorable. More than a tribute, Atul Jayanti is a celebration of talent, values and the enduring power of inspiration.

Musical Trainings
We provide structured, ongoing music education to over 50 students at its dedicated training center in Tinkune, Koteshwor. Students receive instruction in a variety of disciplines including Singing, Tabla, Sitar, Guitar, Flute, and Devotional Music. These sessions are designed to offer both practical training and theoretical knowledge, fostering a deeper understanding of Nepal's classical and spiritual music heritage. Beyond technical skill, the program emphasizes discipline, cultural appreciation, and performance readiness. Gurukul continues to strengthen its curriculum and looks forward to expanding these trainings to reach even more aspiring musicians in the future.

Expanding Access to Music Education
Since 2011, Atul Memorial Gurukul has conducted various training programs to support aspiring musicians unable to attend regular classes. Notable efforts include three-month training in Okhaldhunga, a 7-day session in Pokhara and Kapan (2012), and a year-long free program for 30 disabled children at Jorpati's Disable Rehabilitation Center. To further its reach, Gurukul has also established music training centers in Jharuwarashi and Jhaunkhel, Lalitpur, in collaboration with local institutions, bringing quality music education closer to underserved communities.

Scholarships, Awards, and Student Well-being
Atul Memorial Gurukul supports talented students, especially from underprivileged backgrounds, through the Atul Memorial Scholarship, enabling them to pursue music education. The Gurukul also recognizes excellence in music with awards like the Sukarma Atul Award, Sanu Babu Regmi Award, and Atul Memorial Award. To promote overall well-being, the Gurukul organizes yoga sessions, wellness workshops, and recreational activities such as picnics and futsal matches. These efforts foster creativity, unity, and a healthy lifestyle alongside academic growth.
